"Be My Baby" is a 1992 song recorded by French singer Vanessa Paradis. It was the first single from Paradis' eponymous third studio album and was released in September 1992. It was the singer's first single in English-language and was written by her companion at the time, Lenny Kravitz. It achieved great success in many countries, becoming a top ten hit in France, UK and Germany. The CD maxi contains Paradis' first hit single as B-side, "Joe le Taxi".

Background and release

Five years after her number-one debut single "Joe le taxi", Vanessa Paradis had again an international hit with "Be My Baby" which was her second single to be released in the U.S. and Australia. The song enjoyed a simultaneous release throughout Europe on 1 September 1992, three weeks before the album. "Be My Baby" was then released on 28 September in the UK. In North America, Australia and Asia, the single was presented in October, the album in November.

The single covers were the same for all the countries, but the design was different for the U.S. where the word 'Paradis' was in white, instead of maroon. A three-single CD maxi was released in limited edition in UK. The booklet contains photos from the music video. A promotional CD was published in the U.S. and sent to the media.

The song was performed during Paradis' tours Natural High Tour in 1993 and Divinidylle Tour in 2007.

The music video was shot in the U.S. by John Lindauer in Spring 1992.
